Guru Hasyim is a leading student of the Founder of Lian Padukan, the late Pak Mat Kedidi, and was, at one time, his appointed successor.
Lian Padukan was developed and named by Pak Mat Kedidi based on his own mastery of Buah Pukul Mersing, Tomoi and Silat Sendeng. Haji Hasyim continues to further develop the art based on his own experience. He teaches in his hometown of Johor Bahru and has groups throughout Malaysia and internationally.
In particular Haji Hasyim, has been responsible for expanding the range of weapons taught, beyond the traditional short staff and iron truncheons. Students are encouraged to test their art in competition and many Instructors work in security and law enforcement where their skills are sometimes necessary.
